Spotlight: Giggles and Grins

Welcome to the next edition of our monthly "Spotlight" series! Each month (or so) we will shine a spotlight on a local business that is making a positive impact on the family scene in the Lower Mainland.

This month we are featuring a brand new business that is capturing the magic of childhood - one photo at a time.

Meet Sabrina:
The Lady behind the Lens

Mom, Artist, Business Owner

Hi, I'm Sabrina—the heart behind "Giggles & Grins - Early Childhood Portraits". I'm a photographer, a mom, and a big believer in the magic of childhood. After spending seven years in the world of food and product photography, everything shifted when I had my daughter. I found myself reaching for my camera not to style a scene, but to freeze a moment—a look, a giggle, the way her eyes lit up with wonder.

That passion quickly grew as I began photographing her little friends too, and it wasn't long before I knew this was something much more than a creative outlet. *Giggles & Grins* was born from a desire to celebrate the innocence, joy, and wild honesty of early childhood.

Now, I bring a mobile studio directly to families to capture these sweet, fleeting moments—and to see the smiles (and sometimes tears!) when families see their child's personality reflected back at them through my lens.

Q&A with Sabrina

Sabrina has recently turned her passion for photographing her own child into a full-time business - and it's already booming!

I asked Sabrina a few questions about the inspiration behind her business, here is what she had to say:

Q. What do you love most about photographing young children?

A. I love the joy, spontaneity, and honesty kids bring to each session. There's something so magical about the way children see the world—and capturing that wonder in a single frame is what lights me up. Whether it's a shy smile or an unexpected giggle, those little moments are what make childhood so special, and I feel lucky to preserve them for families.

Q. What inspired you to turn your love for photography into a business focused on childhood portraits?

A. I spent the past 7 years working as a food and product photographer, which I truly enjoy—but when daughter was born I found myself drawn to capturing her tiny expressions, little quirks, and all the sweet, fleeting moments of her early childhood. What really sealed it for me was seeing the joy and emotion on the faces of moms and caregivers when they saw these images—it's such a gift to be able to give them a piece of this magical, fast-moving time.

Q. What do you hope families experience when they book a session with Giggles & Grins?

A. I hope they feel pure joy—both in the moment and when they see their gallery for the first time. Sessions are always a team effort, and some of my favourite memories are of parents going full Broadway behind me—singing, dancing, making silly faces—all to get that perfect belly laugh or sweet smile from their little one. My greatest hope is that when families, grandparents, and friends look at these photos—now and years from now—they feel the magic and wonder of this stage all over again.

Giggles & Grins and
Little Words Studio:

The Perfect Pairing

I first met Sabrina last year when she attended one of my Baby Signing classes - back when her daughter was just a wee little bundle.

When she contacted me many months later and asked about launching her *first ever* baby photo shoot at the Studio, I couldn't wait to get started!

Now she is a hot commodity, with bookings at fabulous locations all over the Lower Mainland! So proud to say we were her "first".
