Spotlight: Mom Squad

With Phoenicia Ramsey

Welcome to this edition of our monthly “Spotlight” series! Each month we shine a spotlight on a local business that is making a positive impact on the family scene in the Lower Mainland.

This month we are featuring a Mama who is bringing people together, one social gathering at a time.

Meet Phoenicia:
Mom Squad Founder

I started Mom Squad after becoming a mom myself and realizing how much I craved connection during those early days. Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also feel isolating, especially when you’re adjusting to a whole new rhythm of life.

Mom Squad was created to give moms a place to show up exactly as they are. No pressure, no expectations, just real connection, support, and community while our little ones play and grow alongside each other.

My hope is that Mom Squad feels like a safe, welcoming space where friendships form, conversations flow easily, and moms feel reminded that they’re not doing this alone.

Q&A with Phoenicia

What inspired you to start Mom Squad?

Becoming a mother was a huge life shift for me. As joyful as it was, it could also feel hard and lonely at times. I didn’t have friends who were having kids yet, so I started joining Mama Mingle walks, which quickly became the highlight of my week. I realized so many moms were craving more activities focused on connection and community and that’s how Mom Squad was born.

Who is Mom Squad for?

Mom Squad is for all moms - whether you’re a first-time mom, new to the area, or simply looking to connect with others in the same stage of life.

What do you hope people feel when they come to a Mom Squad event?

I hope they leave feeling lighter, supported, and more confident knowing they have people they can lean on. Motherhood isn’t meant to be done alone, and postpartum can be a really challenging time. Having something that brings people together - and gives moms a reason to get out of the house - is so important.
