Spotlight: Thiare Vargas

“Beyond Motherhood” Facilitator

Welcome to this edition of our monthly “Spotlight” series! Each month we shine a spotlight on a someone who is making a positive impact on the family scene in the Lower Mainland.

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Thiare Vargas - a mom, Childbirth Educator Student, and founder of Beyond Motherhood. She is passionate about helping other moms feel informed, prepared, and supported.

Meet Thiare:

Mom, Childbirth Educator Student & Mom-to-Mom Supporter

Originally from Chile, Thiare moved to Vancouver in 2022. She is a Childbirth Educator Student, mom to Theo, and a pastry chef.

Becoming a mother has been one of the most beautiful and life-changing experiences of her life, but it also taught her that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum don't always happen the way we imagine.

After navigating fertility challenges, an emergency C-section, and a serious health complication shortly after giving birth, Thiare learned that while we cannot always control what happens, we can prepare for the unexpected. This experience helped shape her passion for childbirth education. She believes everyone deserves access to quality, evidence-based education and compassionate support, regardless of their circumstances or financial situation.

Q&A with Thiare

What inspired you to become a Childbirth Educator?

My own experience showed me how valuable preparation and education can be, especially when things don't go according to plan. I want to help families understand their options, prepare for different possibilities, and feel confident in their decisions.

I am also passionate about accessibility. Quality prenatal education and opportunities to connect with other parents can be expensive, and I believe mothers shouldn't have to spend a fortune to find their village.

What do you wish more people understood about Motherhood?

That you can love your baby deeply and still find motherhood overwhelming. You can feel grateful, exhausted, confident, and uncertain—all at the same time.

Mothers don't have to do everything perfectly or figure it all out alone.

What does "Beyond Motherhood" mean to you?

Beyond Motherhood is about remembering the woman behind the title of “mom.” Motherhood becomes a huge part of our lives, but our needs, emotions, identity, and dreams still matter.

What is one message you would give to a new Mom?

You don't have to have everything figured out. Give yourself grace, ask for support, and remember that you deserve support and care, too.
