Musical Playground

Little ones love to wiggle, dance, and explore the world through movement, so our Musical Playground classes are filled with energy and fun! Each session is part of an ongoing series, introducing your child to different instruments, rhythms, and musical styles, from world and folk to classical. Classes focus on engaging children with music, allowing them to appreciate and respond to the melodies within them.

Music is a natural, creative, and joyful experience for everyone, regardless of age. This program is designed to help little ones develop a love for music, not through formal learning but by simply enjoying it with their caregivers. Through active participation, both bigs and littles share in the fun and watch their creativity grow. It’s about creating a foundation for a lifelong love of music, with no pressure—just pure enjoyment.

Why we love Musical Playground:

Nicole, a passionate music lover herself, created this program to share her joy of music from the very beginning. Music should feel good, and we hope to inspire families to continue making music a part of their daily lives.

Things To know:

  • Both parents are always welcome to join.
  • Parents must stay on-site and participate for the duration of class.
  • Registration is open right up until class begins

Musical Playground FAQ

We group children by developmental stage rather than age:

  • Pre-Mobile Babies – not yet crawling: For non-mobile infants who experience music while lying down, sitting, or being held
  • Mobile Babies – crawling but not yet walking: For crawlers who enjoy exploring music through movement but are not yet comfortably up on their feet
  • Toddlers – Babies who are walking/running up to 36 months: For more interactive music experiences, including singing and imaginative play.

If space allows, individual classes may be available for drop-in. Pre-registration is required, and drop-in rates apply.

• Any form of engagement benefits babies, even at a very young age. Your baby may enjoy smiling, kicking their legs, waving their arms, or simply looking around curiously. If you notice these responses during activities like singing, dancing, or playing with scarves, it’s a great sign that they’re having fun!

• Social interaction is incredibly valuable for early development. Even being in a new environment with different sounds, sights, and people helps stimulate your baby’s growing brain. They’re learning so much just by being there—plus, they’ll be exposed to fun musical concepts along the way!

It's natural! We clean all items and surfaces daily, but use your discretion. A "drooly bin" is available for recently mouthed items.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credits for missed classes. Like most scheduled programs, your registration secures your spot, whether or not you attend. Please review our liability waiver for more details.

Instrument Adventures

This is the perfect age to explore new concepts, and Instrument Adventures has exciting opportunities to dive into music! We’ll explore melody, rhythm, and the properties of sound while also learning how music can make us feel.

Your child will have the chance to play real instruments, including flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, violin, and a selection of World Music instruments. We also do several instrument-building crafts throughout the session, that the children can make and take home with them!

Beyond music, this class is a chance to teach valuable lessons in politeness, respect, sharing, and cooperation—essential life skills that help children interact positively with others. It’s not just about learning to play instruments but also about developing social skills and a love for music that can last a lifetime.

*It’s best if your 3 or 4 year old is already in a preschool environment, so they are comfortable with things like “circle time”, taking turns, and expressing their own thoughts and ideas within a group.

Instrument Adventures FAQ

• Both the Musical Playground and Instrument Adventures series encourage children to explore music through singing, dancing, and playing. Both emphasize parent participation to create a shared music-making experience.

• Instrument Adventures adds an educational component, introducing musical concepts such as sound, pitch, rhythm, and melody. We also introduce orchestral instruments in this program, with a much more hands-on approach. Additionally, Instrument Adventures includes craft days where children make their own musical instruments to take home!

Because of the educational aspect, we recommend that children be either enrolled in a preschool setting or already comfortable sitting in a circle, listening, contributing to discussions, and taking turns. Some 3-year-olds are very verbal and engaged, while others may find these activities challenging—please use your judgment based on your child’s development.
  • Yes! Throughout the 8-week program, children will explore a variety of instruments, including violin, guitar, ukulele, trumpet, trombone, piano, xylophone, flute, clarinet, and various world percussion and sound-effect instruments.
  • While children will get hands-on access to all instruments, mouthpieces on the trumpet, trombone, flute, and clarinet will only be played by the instructor.
  • No. This is a parent-present class. You are welcome to sit off to the side if you prefer, but you must remain onsite for the entire class.
  • Parent participation makes the class more fun and engaging, so we encourage you to join in whenever possible! If your child needs guidance, we ask that parents step in to help them stay focused and engaged.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or credits for missed classes. Like most scheduled programs, your registration secures your spot, whether or not you attend. Please review our liability waiver for more details.
