Q&A with Shawna

What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of my job is that everyday is so different, and I get a chance to connect and meet so many families in the community. I love seeing children grow and blossom into little human beings with amazing personalities.

Is there a referral needed to access support? How can a family reach out for resources of 1:1 support?
No referral needed! Any family in the Tri-Cities area can reach out for support who has children 0-6. If you live in a different area of the lower mainland, I would be happy to point you in the right direction. Families can reach out anytime by emailing Shawna.comey@westcoastfamily.org for resources or to set up a 1:1 appointment

For a new, first-time parent, what Parent Education Workshops would you recommend for families to participate in, if they could?
One of my favourite programs I facilitate is Circle of Security. It has helped me so much in my own parenting journey and to recognize my own triggers and how to best support my children.

Shawna has organized countless events, and continues to offer services and support through the various programs and workshop she promotes. Be sure to keep up with the family scene by joining the facebook group Parent Child Events and Adventures, a fantastic resource to help keep you up to date!
